SPECIAL EFFECTS

Phosphorescent pigments

Special effects have always been used to decorate and highlight prints, making them more attractive and with a huge impact.

Phosphorescent shades are among the most attractive special effects.

Used during screen printing, these inks contain high concentrations of special pigments mixed in the binding system.

Phosphorescent inks absorb and store illuminated short wavelength UV rays and/or light and release them as longer wavelength visible light once the illumination has stopped.

These inks are mainly used for safety applications such as emergency exit symbols and warning signs.
These symbols store the energy of light, which shines as a greenish light in the dark.
These pigments are also used for graphic applications on objects, signs and posters with special effects.

Phosphorescent pigments can be mixed in various binder systems and are generally printed on the following substrates: adhesive PVC, rigid PVC, polystyrene, ABS, SAN, PMMA, polycarbonate, paper and cardboard.

Due to their transparency, in order to obtain maximum phosphorescence, it is recommended to print on white backgrounds.

It is also recommended to print with a number of meshes from 20 to 32.

Sericom Italia offers two different qualities of pigment (also ready to use), depending on the duration of the light released.
